Today it dawned on me that I am doubly female.  I am carrying my first baby, a baby girl at that.  I feel like a walking estrogen ball…oozing pink, estrogen and all things round and curvy.  What does this mean to be doubly female?  I can tell you that it feels like mother Earth personified.  The urge to nurture, nest, move with rhythm, dance in the waves and be round and powerful about sums it up.  There are so many new emotions, new thoughts, new perspectives.  My second Chakra is pulsating with this creative gift from above.  There is an urge to pause and just be… feminine!

We think we have it all figured out, a plan of action for the game of life and how we will play it.  For a moment, we may even feel ahead of the curve with our blueprint in tact.  It’s funny how we act so surprised when we get thrown a curve ball causing impromptu changes to the well thought out plan.  As if LIFE did not get the memo.
We are in a time when so much of the unexpected and unprecedented is happening in the world.  So much about life is not what happens, but how one responds to it.  Take a look at a few pointers below that may help you see the blessings in the unpredicted.
1)     Reflect on a time that you can remember a grand disappointment and how it gave you new insight, awareness and the start of an awesome experience.
2)     Imagine if your life really did go according to the self authored “master plan”.  What bullet where you able to dodge by letting fate and the powers that be cause interference?
3)     May your best friends, partner, new job, new found hobby or renewed sense of self have come from a chance situation?  I bet you never saw that one coming.  What joy have they brought to your world?  Are you happy with the new you?
4)     Our life perspective is often so small when compared to the grand potential we have that we may be unable to see.  It’s a good thing we are challenged to evolve and give rise to the bigger and better version of self.
5)    Life is about miracles and we can’t plan those!

Weight loss is such a hot topic this summer!  The sunshine calls for less clothing ,which usually results in baring more skin, and revealing a bit more that flesh accumulated in colder months.  Our confidence can take a beating when we notice that our tops and pants are a bit snug.  I say, embrace ALL of you and get in touch with loving a plumper body.  Also, perhaps you can delve into some self reflection and introspection and strengthen your self image.  If you are an emotional eater, get to the bottom of the issue that compels you to grub!  If you have had less time in your schedule to exercise, do what you can to make moving your body a priority.  If you just love all things fried, cheesy and greasy, reaffirm the importance of eating healthy food for a healthy body.
In the Chakra system, the “Core” relates to the 3rd or Solar Plexus Chakra.  It is located just between the bottom of the ribs and the belly button where digestion begins.  Self esteem, standing in your power, confidence and courage are the mental-emotional aspects of the “core” Chakra.  The 3rd Chakra deals with the nitty gritty of who you really are!  Remember your first day of school or work and getting butterflies in your stomach?  Or perhaps you had to give a presentation at work or school and your nerves had you on the toilet for an extended period that day.  Did you wonder if you would be liked?  Would you be judged?  Would you fit in?  I think we have all experienced moments where our confidence and self esteem were challenged.  The hope is that you came out on the other side true to who yourself, standing tall with your head held high!
While you are getting your body fit take some time to check in with your “core”.  Build your self esteem by affirming your love for every curve.  Stand up for what you know is right.  Seek balance in your schedule.  Eat foods from strength not from weakness.  Make your health a priority.  Be courageous in your life and know what you stand for!

What are you doing in life if not working, living and breathing your passion?  I know, it sounds kind of blunt and a bit harsh especially if you have allowed yourself to get  far away from what makes you happy.  Have you escaped bliss and are unsure how to return?  Do you need a map back to where your passion lies?  If so, you are not alone.  MANY today have sacrificed what makes them happy for what they were told they were supposed to do.  So 1950’s!  Today, we live in a time where 9 year olds are CEOs of multimillion dollar companies, information is as close as a key stroke and the sky is the limit when it comes to innovation.
With so much possibility in the world, what are you waiting for?  How might you find your Passion?  Let’s start with some basics.  Passion denotes a compelling feeling, enthusiasm or desire for something.  Generated in the 2nd Chakra, it is where ideas go through gestation to be delivered into the world.  Let’s see if we can start to get you closer to your passion: What recurring ideas for projects keep coming to you?  What activities or topics really excite you?  What could you not live without?  What is your ideal life?  If money were not an issue, what would you do for a living?  What makes you happy and fulfilled?  What could you do for work that would really be like a hobby?  What talents do you have that you enjoy?
When you are in alignment with what excites you, joy and quality of life transform the life you knew into a life full of fulfillment.  Stay focused on purpose and passion and you will find yourself living your way into a renewed life.

Have you ever felt like you were headed north to find out you may need to make a sharp turn and go due west?  In Southern California this Easter we experienced what seemed like the longest rolling earthquake ever.  The foundation was literally moving beneath our feet.  Yes, changing direction and foundational shift is a part of life.  But, how do you properly deal with the roller coaster of emotions that comes from heading into uncharted territory?
The Root Chakra in Ancient Indian Medicine deals with security.  Are all your basic needs met?  Do you have food, shelter, water?  Do you feel like you belong to a group or a community?  The Root/1st Chakra deals with foundation.  Perhaps we freak out a bit when things change because we feel threatened and unsafe.  Maybe we question if we will have to sacrifice beyond our comfort, even to the point of not feeling that there will not be enough.  Most of us worry in vain.  We are blessed with more than we know.  We always find “a way” and “a way” will always find us.
The fear of the unknown, of our changing foundation can create stress in the body.  See below for Root Chakra correlations to stressors and affected body areas:
Life Aspect: Basic needs being met, family values, safety, foundation, early familial teachings Out of balance physical manifestation: Sciatica, knee issues, low back problems, immune compromise, rectal troubles, depression
To deal with keeping the Root aligned.  Affirm the positive in you life that relates to life aspects that are changing and seem out of balance.  Wear Root Chakra Paraphernalia to remind yourself of your blessings- http://www.cafepress.com/BeingWellbody.424794976.
Blessings!

Still in the first quarter of the year, the energy of 2010 coupled with the emerging spirit of Spring prompts reflection at the direction one is headed in life.  So often we move through life on auto-pilot forgetting about the dreams we once had, living from practicality and not purpose.  Remembering your intention is a fantastic way to keep your steps forward focused and in alignment with what really makes you happy.  For a more distinct picture of what you would like in your life, VISULAIZE!
Can you picture your ideal job, relationship, home, social circle in your mind’s eye?  You are half way to living the life of your dreams if you can actually sense what it feels and looks like.  The quote, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve” is a mantra you  can  recite to remind yourself how powerful visualization can be.  In Indian Medicine, the 6th or Third Eye Chakra relates to seeing the unseen, the images of the life you’ve always wanted.  Don’t give up on it.  Direct your energy and tap into your inner child that wasn’t afraid to dream.

Many feel that to forgive means to approve of a perceived wrong doing.  We have all experienced let downs and hurts when our expectations have not been fulfilled. Some hold on to resentment for years, feeling justified in their anger.  Even if someone has intentionally hurt you, resentment harbored only negatively impacts YOU!
Do you feel nervous, anxious, tightness in your chest, butterflies or anger when you think of someone you have not forgiven? If so, your body is experiencing stress that impacts your health.  Work to get past the negative impulse.  There is nothing that can be changed about what has happened.  Consider yourself having just taken a crash course in Living and Learning 101.  Take the high road and forgive- release the person or the situation.  You don’t have to forget but find peace.
One aspect of the 4th Chakra is challenge with forgiveness.  As noted in the Chakra Intro, emotions can be linked to physical stress.  Check out the 4th Chakra physical manifestation list and take the Instant Chakra Assessment. Happy Healing!  This month we are pointing you towards our 4th/Heart Chakra T-Shirt with Affirmations to help you move forward to a better WELLBODY!
A few questions for you…
1) What does forgiveness mean to you?
2) Do you have trouble with forgiveness?
3) Have you ever felt physical tension when thinking of or faced with someone you resent and have not forgiven?
Work towards a resolution… “LAW”
1) Love yourself enough to not burden your body with negativity- Let go and move forward.
2) Accept that your reality is not theirs- they may never see your point of view.
3) Write a letter to the person to get your resentment off your chest…then burn it as a sign of release.

My life was changed when I discovered Chakras.  I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids at 22 years old and learned that the western community understands little about the condition.  I learned and know through my own studies that they can cause cramps or not, heavy bleeding or not and can require a hysterectomy or not.  Sure there are theories, many of which I have entertained.  Excess estrogen, progesterone deficiency, poor sugar (glucose) handling, are all theorized causes.  Wanting to preserve my womb and feel better, I chose to do as much as possible to get and stay in great health.  I changed my diet (eliminating excess white flour and sugar products), committed to exercise and started to see my personal symptoms of heavy flow, low energy and irritability improve.  I also got acupuncture (before I studied it) which greatly regulated my hormone cycle/period.  Nevertheless, I wanted to go one step further.
I came across information about gynecological health and the 2nd Chakra.  I learned right away that Chakras deal with energetic, mental and/or emotional imbalances in particular power centers of the body.  The 2nd Chakra deals with issues of inter-personal/one-on-one relationships, creativity, sexuality and pleasure.  It is the Yin center for women, the home of receptivity.  I began to explore the role and significance of each of these life aspects.  I reflected on the following:
Do I allow myself to receive or am I always doing?
Why do I run into the same hiccups in romantic relationships?
How do I perceive my own sexuality having developed at an early age?
Do I allow my creativity to gestate and be born?
Chakras allow one the opportunity for deep healing, introspection and insight.  Illness is the body trying to give a message that a lifestyle change is order.   From a holistic perspective, wellness is not possible without instituting balance nutritionally and physically as well as mentally/emotionally/energetically and spiritually.  I will admit that I am a work in progress.  But, I understand that I hold stress in my 2nd Chakra when I revert back to old ways of thinking and acting.  Why not take the opportunity to become a holistically healthy person.  I am not saying that Chakra care is an easy answer to all diseases…in fact it is a constant sometimes challenging practice

How often do we shy away from being our authentically wonderful selves?  In the Chakra System, expression and communication relate to the 5th Chakra which occupies the space at the throat.  Issues of holding back ideas because the perceived timing is not right, being dishonest with yourself or others and not taking time to really hear can block energy in this Chakra.  Who are you really being if you are fearful of expressing who YOU are.  There is only one you who possess gifts and talents to share with the world.  You may be withholding precious information that can really benefit someone if you do not express yourself.
From a mind-body perspective, blocked 5th Chakra energy can manifest as a sore throat, thyroid imbalance and tense shoulders.  If you are not ready to speak your truth than at least start writing it out.  The best remedy for fear is to dissolve the fear itself.  Fear is just a perceived reality.  Focus only on positive outcomes that can come from your expression.  Speak from a place of authenticity and love.  Speak what is so for you and remember the gift you have to offer from your expression.
